This train trip is the reason why I wanted to go to sri lanka in the first place. A friend showed me a short video from the train ride and I knew this is as close I can get to riding along the edge of the grand canyon which is a huge freedom fantasy of mine ?

The train ride from Colombo to Kandy takes approximately 4 hours. It’s not the most scenic part ( after Kandy the train continuous for another 9 hours to badulla and thats where it’s getting really splendid ) but for me sitting by the open door watching this foreign landscape passing by was already mind blowing.
