Chateau Berliquet

Berliquet

Château Monbrison 1998, Cru Burgeois, Margaux, rouge

First bottle in a series of fine Bordeaux wines generously donated to Bundlebit B&B 🙂

A 2001 Chateau Berliquet (Saint Emilion Grand Cru) with a beautiful nose, is surprisingly smooth to drink. Nice!

Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc

What winesdirect.ie say about this wine:

Vanilla and blackcurrant abound on the nose. Opulant, rich, velvety and well balanced.

This is a very old cru that was already famous at the end of the eighteenth century. Well located on the top of St-Martin’s plateau, with the classic combination of the two grape varieties in the right proportions, the château takes advantage of the master skills of the wine-maker, Patrick Valette, who also exercises in Château La Prade.
